Australia Set to Host T20 World Cup 2022
Australia will host the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022. In fact, Australia were originally scheduled to host the eighth edition of the ICC global event in 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the International Cricket Council (ICC) to defer the tournament to 2022. Australia will get to host the T20 World Cup for the first time. The event is scheduled to begin on 16 October and end with the final on 13 November. As in the case of the 2021 tournament, the event will have 16 participating teams. There will be 45 matches played between 16 October and 13 November.
Eight Teams Including India Have Already Qualified
According to a recent announcement by the ICC, eight teams — Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa — have been given direct entry to the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup, by virtue of being the eight top teams in the ICC rankings. These eight teams will be joined by four qualifiers in the Super 12s.
India Fail to Go Past the League Stage of T20 World Cup 2021
India crashed out of this year’s edition of the World Cup after losing three out of five league games. Pakistan, who won all five of their league matches, and New Zealand, who finished with four wins and one loss, entered the semifinals as the top two teams from group 2. They joined England and Australia who finished as the top two teams in group 1.

On 10 November, New Zealand beat England by 5 wickets in a thrilling game. New Zealand won the toss and elected to field. Batting first, England scored 166/5 in their allotted overs. England held the New Zealand batsmen on a tight leash until the 16th over. Needing 57 runs from 24 balls, the Kiwis got to the target with an over to spare, thanks largely to an unbeaten 82 by opener Daryl Mitchell.In their semifinal clash against Pakistan, Australia, like NZ in the first semifinal, won the toss and opted to field. Pakistan set them a challenging target of 177. With Australia needing 22 to win from the last two overs, Babar Azam handed the ball to Shaheen Afridi for the 19th over. Afridi began the over with a dot ball before Hasan Ali spilled a skier from Wade. In an unforgettable finish, Wade hit successive sixes from the last three balls to see Australia home with an over to spare.
