The teams last met on 2 May in Delhi. Rajasthan Royals batted first in that game. After the loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket at one for 17, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson got together in a 150-run partnership for the second wicket. Butler made a top score with 124 in 64 balls to help his side to a substantial score of 220 for three. Rashid Khan took one for 24 to emerge the most impressive bowler for Sunrisers.
When SRH replied, they got off to a good start with a 57-run opening stand. But once the partnership was broken, they lost regular wickets to be reduced to 127 for five in the 15th over. They never recovered from that position and ended up with 165 for eight in their allotted overs. For SRH, Manish Pandey became the top scorer with 31. For Rajasthan, Mustafizur Rahman and Chris Morris took three wickets each.
