In a rain-curtailed first t20I of the four-match series on July 31, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field. In bowling friendly conditions, their bowlers made a quick impact, causing Lendl Simmons to retire hurt with the scoreboard reading 16 for no loss in two overs. On the very next ball, Evin Lewis lost his wicket to Hasan Ali. The bowlers continue to make inroads and reduced the West Indies to 51/4 in 6.1 overs.
