Match Predictions and Team Previews
h3>AnalysisThe teams last met at Abu Dhabi on 9 June, when the second leg of PSL 2021 began. Batting first in that game, IU lost Colin Munro’s wicket with the score reading 12 for 1. Thereafter, a regular fall of wickets ensured that they never got on top of the bowling. But after they were reduced to 109 for 8 in the 17th over, Faheem Ashraf’s cameo ensured that the final score of 143/9 had some measure of respectability. Ashraf who made 27 from 24 balls was the top scorer, while several batsmen, including Khawaja, Munro, Iftikhar Ahmed and Hussain Talat, got into double figures but failed to convert the starts into big innings. James Faulkner was the most impressive Lahore bowler with figures of 3/32, while Ahmed Daniyal and Haris Rauf took 2 wickets each. Shaheen Afridi and Rashid Khan took one each.
LQ did not have an ideal start to their reply, after losing 2 wickets for 44 runs in the 8th over. But a 38-run stand for the 3rd wicket in less than 5 overs brought the run rate under control. The modest target was never going to trouble the Lahore batsmen who got to the mark off the last ball of the innings with 5 wickets in hand. Sohail Akhtar top scored with 40, while Md Hafeez (29) and Tim David (23 from 15 balls) played useful knocks. For IU, Hasan Ali took two wickets while Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Ahmed and Shadab Khan took one wicket each.
Faulkner has proved to be the perfect addition to LQ in the 2nd leg of the competition.
LQ: Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, Muhammad Faizan, Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk, Tim David, James Faulkner, Rashid Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Ahmed Daniyal, Haris Rauf
