England Wins the T20I series versus Australia
England won the T20I home series against Australia in September 2019 by a 2-1 margin. They triumphed in the first two games and lost the final one.
First Match
In the first T20I, Australia won the toss and opted to field first. England clocked 162/7 in their 20 overs aided by opener Jos Buttler’s 44 off 29 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes and no. 3 Dawid Malan’s 66 off 43 deliveries with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Ashton Agar, Kane Richardson and Glenn Maxwell grabbed 2 wickets each for the Aussies.
Australia lost by a heart-breaking two runs as they could manage just 160/6 in their 20 overs. Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid were the star bowlers for England with 2 scalps each. David Warner became the Aussies’ top scorer with 58 off 47 balls.
SeSecond Game
the second T20I, Australia won the toss and batted first. They notched up 157/7 in their 20 overs. Aaron Finch became the top scorer with 40 off 33 deliveries with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Chris Jordan snared 2/40 in his 4 overs for England.
England chased the target successfully led by opener Jos Buttler’s 77 off 54 and no. 3 Dawid Malan’s 42 off 32. The duo added 87 for the second wicket. England reached 158/4 in 18.5 overs to win comfortably and clinch the series.
Third Third Match
lia won the toss in the third T20I also and elected to field this time. England blasted 145/6 led by opener Jonny Bairtstow’s 55 off 44 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Adam Zampa had the best bowling figures of 2/34 in 4 overs for the Aussies.
Australia then successfully chased the target aided by opener Aaron Finch’s 39 off 26 balls and Mitchell Marsh’s 39 not out off 36 balls. Marsh combined with Ashton Agar (16 not out off 13) to form an unbroken partnership of 46 runs for the 6th wicket to help Australia overhaul the target with 3 balls to spare.
