Jonny Bairstow is our lone choice. With Buttler unlikely to play, Bairstow is likely to keep wickets for England. In the 3rd test, Jonny made 29 to add to his previous scores of 29, 30, and 57. He looked set for a big score before he got out.
Batsmen
With a brilliant 55, Virat Kohli signaled his return to form in the 3rd test. Rohit Sharma gave more evidence of his maturing as a test batsman, with scores of 19 and 59, to add to his previous innings of 36, 83 and 21. Burns found his form with an innings of 61 which helped England level the series. Root continued to torment the Indian bowlers with a superb knock of 121 to add to his innings of 64, 109, 180 not out, and 33 in the previous matches.
Allrounders
Jadeja scored 30 in the 2nd innings to add to previous scores of 56 and 40. He also took 2/88 to underline his all-round value to the team. England will be delighted to welcome Woakes’s return from injury. In his last test series versus Pakistan, the England allrounder had scores of 84 not out, 19, and 40, in addition to 6 wickets in the three matches.
