Australia won the away ODI series against England in September 2020 by a 2-1 margin, winning the first and third games.

First Match

In the first day/night game held in Manchester on September 11, England won the toss and opted to field first. Australia racked up 294/9 in their 50 overs aided by Glenn Maxwell’s 77 off 59 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes and Mitchell Marsh’s more sedate 73 off 100 deliveries with 6 fours. Jofra Archer and Mark Wood claimed 3 wickets each for the Poms.

In reply, England were restricted to 275/9 which left the Aussies victors by 19 runs. Sam Billings cracked 118 off 110 balls for England in a vain effort. Josh Hazlewood was named Player of the Match for his 3/26 in 10 overs, while Adam Zampa bagged 4/55 in his 10 overs.

Second Game

In the second ODI, it was also England who won the toss but this time they opted to bat first. The Poms scored 231/9 aided by skipper Eoin Morgan’s 42 off 52 balls. Joe Root, Tom Curran and Adil Rashid supported him with thirties. Adam Zampa snared 3/36 for the Aussies.

In reply, Australia were restricted to 207 which made England winners by 24 runs. Aaron Finch became the Aussies’ top scorer with 73 off 105 balls. Jofra Archer was declared Man of the Match for his 3/34 in 10 overs. Chris Woakes and Sam Curran also claimed 3 scalps each for England.

he final ODI, England won the toss and batted first. They amassed 302/7 thanks to opener Jonny Bairstow’s 112 off 126 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes. Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa claimed three wickets each for Australia.

In reply, the Aussies were in trouble at 5/73. At this stage, Alex Carey and Glenn Maxwell joined hands to form a 212-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Both scored hundreds and Player of the Match Glenn Maxwell smashed 108 off 90 with 4 fours and 7 sixes. Australia reached the target with 3 wickets and 2 balls to spare.
