Lasith Malinga Announced Retirement from All Formats of Cricket

Lasith Malinga, the winning captain of Sri Lanka in the 2014 T20 World Cup, has announced his retirement from T20 matches. This marks his retirement from all formats of cricket. The ace cricketer has posted a message on social media regarding his decision. Moreover, Malinga has also shared a video on his YouTube channel that showed a memorable compilation of the wickets he took in T20s. In the caption of the video, he says that while his shoes will rest, his love for cricket will never rest.

In the social media message, Malinga said that the experience he had acquired from his 17-year-long cricket career would not be required on the ground as he had decided to retire from T20I cricket. However, he will continue to support the young generation of cricketers who thrive on raising the game’s spirit, and he will always be there for people who love the game.

Malinga was a part of Mumbai Indians, and the team has indicated that he was planning to retire from franchise cricket. He was not a part of the team in the IPL 2021. His last match for Sri Lanka was in March 2021 against the West Indies.
