The Caribbean Premium League (CPL) has six teams which are Trinbago Knight Riders, St Lucia Zouks, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Jamaica Tallawahs, Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors.
The CPL winners list shows that Trinbago Knight Riders has had the most success in this competition, winning it four times (in 2020, 2018 and 2017 as Trinbago Knight Riders and in 2015 as Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel).
The team that has fared the worst is St Lucia Zouks. Barbados Tridents has won the CPL two times (in 2019 and 2014), while Jamaica Tallawahs has also been successful twice (in 2016 and 2013).
Guyana Amazon Warriors has been the unluckiest team in the CPL as they reached the playoffs every time and the final four times but have not managed to win the trophy even once.
In the first CPL edition in 2013, Jamaica Tallawahs beat the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final. In the latest season in 2020, Trinbago Knight Riders triumphed over Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final.
In the 2014 CPL final, Barbados Tridents batted first and piled 152/6 in their 20 overs. They then restricted Guyana Amazon Warriors and won by 8 runs by the D/L method. Lendl Simmons of Guyana was the Player of the Series.
In the 2015 CPL final, Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel played against Barbados. Trinidad batted first and amassed 178/5. In reply, Barbados could make only 158/4 and lost by 20 runs. Dwayne Bravo of the Red Steel was declared the Player of the Series.
In the 2016 final, Guyana batted first and could score only 93 which was overtaken by Jamaica in just 12.5 overs losing only one wicket. Andre Russell of Jamaica Tallawahs was the Player of the Series.
In the 2017 final, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots batted first and managed 135/6. Trinbago reached the target in 19 overs, losing 7 wickets. Chadwick Walton of Guyana Amazon Warriors was named the Player of the Series.
In the 2018 CPL final, Guyana batted first and cracked 147/9 in their 20 overs. Trinbago easily overtook that score in 17.3 overs, losing just 2 wickets. Colin Munro of Trinbago was declared the Player of the Series.
In the 2019 final, Barbados Tridents batted first and notched up 171/6. They then limited Guyana Amazon Warriors to 144/9 to win by 27 runs. Hayden Walsh Jr. of Barbados was the Player of the Series.
St Lucia Zouks, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors haven’t won the CPL title to date.
